Lewis
I've received an £85 PCN for overstaying 39 minutes in a 2hours free car park. The company is "ParkingEye" - everything I have read online says it's a scam and to ignore it but not sure what to do. Has anyone actually dealt with one of these and ignored it before? Cinnamon
Never heard of them, but a Google brings up quite a lot, doesn't it? Interesting concept...DID you overstay at the carpark, out of interest? Looking at some of the threads on Money Saving Expert, it seems that they as a private parking firm, can do nothing to actually make you pay ,but like you I would be concerned There is a Facebook page of disgruntled people who have been fined by them too, which is worth a look. Lewis
Have read a lot of thread on MoneySaving and will look on facebook I remember thinking we'd been 2 hours we need to leave but don't think we'd have been 40 mins over. I've never noticed the cameras there and know people who park there all day sometimes without any consequences - parking in Aber is really bad, most on-street parking is 2 hours
chickric
DO NOT IGNORE that is old advice. Join this forum http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163 and post with as much detail as possible but with no identifiable details. If done right and with a little work you will not have to pay. Good luck.
Olly
I've had one, I ignored it after reading advice on money saving expert, and they gave up after three letters. Has that position changed? I thought they had no right to enforce it.

If defended properly then you will probably still win but it is a lot more hassle. I think the advice for most of the other P.P.Cs is to still ignore. WitchHazel
Some interesting (and recent) info here, Lewis http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/showthread.php?41645-Parking-Eye-Parking-Charge Hope that helps
Olly
oops, a bit worrying - I had this last year, ignored it and nothing further happened. A friend came to visit and we went to the same carpark in her car, overstayed and she also got a 'fine'. I've been telling her to ignore it and they'll go away! I may have to revise that advice ... Didinium
I ignored mine and nothing has come of it for 2 years... If they want to take it to court they have to prove that business was lost due to your actions. If there were other spaces, or didn't even leave the retail site I shouldn't worry. I was 38 weeks pregnant, didn't leave the retail site and was 20 minutes late due to waiting for my 37 weeks pregnant friend to show up and the amount of time it took me to waddle round the huge site. Bring on court action ParkingEye!

Bring on court action ParkingEye! Yes, as I said you can ignore it and hope, but most people don't have the time or inclination to go to court, and then you need to know what you are doing. ParkingEye (and a couple of others) are taking people to court. It is better to get it sorted before that happens.
