Millie-Annie
I went shopping with my list today. A cream legbar and a welsummer were on my list. I still have two ex-batts Mary and Ivy, so four would be a nice number. Today though Mary has gone into a decline and I know with the ex-batts she won't recover, although usually the decline isn't as rapid as hers has been. Anyway so I choose my cream legbar and welsummer and then my husband says "as Mary isn't looking good maybe we should take three" Now I have said time again, I don't want an Orpington, too heavy, too broody. But the farmer picked up this mound of black feathers (just like the beautiful Marigold chicken) and said you need one of these. So now for some totally mad reason I have Meva the legbar, Issey the Welsummer and Octavia the most enormous (and she is only 12 weeks) Orpington. I hope I don't live to regret it, please someone tell me I won't
mollyripkim
Of course you won't I have two bantam orpingtons, one of which is much bigger than anyone else - but is gentle and very friendly, in fact will often pop indoors I don't keep an eye on her. Sorry about poorly Mary, hope she is ok and that you enjoy your new girlies.
Chickabee
Sounds lovely. I've get a very broody silkie, but wouldn't change her for the world
Millie-Annie
Well amazingly and for the first time ever Mary bounced back and today she is back to normal. I am really pleased but I would never have bought three yesterday had I realised that. Octavia was obviously meant to be.
sjp
she could have been trying to lay a soft shelled egg as that makes them really miserable until it's been laid then more or less after the egg is laid they perk right up again
Millie-Annie
That was what I thought, but can't see anything in the nest box this morning, just a nice brown egg that I presume was laid by Ivy.
