Choo-chook
When I was out at the eglu this afternoon I spotted a black flea on the top on it, none inside (that I could see) and I haven't seen any on the chickens. Everything I read is all about lice and mites, are fleas a big problem too. My girls are bantams about 16 weeks old (so nowhere near laying). I'm going to buy Harkamectin (ivermectin)Drops or would some sort of frontline be better? Just off to treat the dogs, but they've not been near them. Feel itchy thinking about them. I gave the coop a big clean out and sprayed it with the pink mite killer (can't remember it's name) do you think this works on fleas too? Sorry for all the questions. Patricia W
It couldn't be a dog or cat flea?
The Dogmother
If the 'pink mite killer' is Total Mite Kill, then it will kill fleas. Could have come from anywhere TBH, and dog/cat fleas won't live on chickens as they are species-specific.
