Lavenders_Blue
I'm cross posting information about Little Hen Rescue's October rehoming date. They are planning to take around 150 caged girls from a farm in mid/late October, but unfortunately uptake has been slow. If not enough homes can be found for these precious girls then they won't be able to go into the farm and none will be saved Can anyone in the Cambs area find space for even just a couple of ex-batt girls? They really are the most lovely hens and it's incredibly rewarding seeing them blossom from scared, baldy chooks to confident, cheeky hens. If so, please contact the Cambs team via Little Hen Rescue's website here: http://www.littlehenrescue.co.uk/Pages/Updatesonrescues.aspx For some reason, the October rescue date isn't on the page, but if they get enough takers, it definitely will be happening! Chickabee
I would love to. Where in Cambridgeshire will it be. I'm in essex. I've not got room with my girls but I've got a run with a rabbit hutch.
Lavenders_Blue
I think the main collection point will be in Manea (near Chatteris) but there might be another one near Kimbolton. It's best to e-mail Mel at Cambs LHR and ask her - cambslhr@googlemail.com
Lavenders_Blue
Another bumpity-bump The collection date is now confirmed as Sunday 20th Oct with collection points in Manea and Kimbolton. The rescue date is the 19th and the hens are being transported down from Lancashire which will be an all day operation, so collection is on the 20th. Lavenders_Blue
Well, my three little baldies are home now and I've already had an egg from one of them! The old girls are making a complete racket about the whole thing. No doubt they think the new girls have got better food than they do. Photos will follow once they've settled down a bit and won't object to me poking a camera in their faces
