nin-chicken
I want to give my new girls a dust bath but not sure what to use. I've read that litter trays are too shallow and flexi trugs are good. Are the deep or shallow ones better? And what size? I only have 4 hens Thank you!
The Dogmother
Use something weighty which they can't tip over, I used to have an old enamelled tub, but now use a butler's sink from the tip. They will need it filled with something fine and dry; I use a mixture of wood ash and Diatom, dried potting compost of fine play sand is good though. Patricia W
A low plastic trug works. Although mine prefer to dig holes in the aubiose and wallow. In the garden, they favour the dry ground under a large pine tree. This area is a hazard now with deep potholes!
