Missing chicken, any ideas please? Updated.

Recommended Posts

I have just got home from work and gone to shut the girls away and Octavia, my Orpington is missing. I have looked all over the run, and all over the free range bit but no sign. If it had been my Welsummer or Legbar I'd have thought they'd managed to fly over the fence, but Octavia is too big. She bounces everywhere she doesn't take off.

My husband is thinking fox, but surely there would be a feather and there is nothing, she literally seems to have vanished into thin air.

I am really upset and worried can anyone throw any light or hope?

Are you sure she is not snuggled up somewhere for the night. I lost a tiny Serama last week, her two sisters were in the FR area but no sign of the third one. I looked for her for about an hour, to be honest I thought a cat had probably got her as she is so tiny. We found her the next evening hiding in the hedge across the road and managed to catch her. I know an orp is a lot harder to lose but don't give up, hopefully she will turn up. fingers crossed for you. :)

Thank you. She is so big, I honestly can't think she could be anywhere in the run, the only hope is the garden, but I really don't think she could get over the gate, she is a big girl.

I have done a leaflet drop around the neighbours in the hope someone might find something. Anything is better than not knowing :cry:

That must be awful not knowing where she is :( I do hope she turns up tomorrow. One positive is that it doesn't sound much like a fox attack - in my experience they leave feathers and devastation and don't stop at one chicken either.

I really hope she is ok and you find her safe and well tomorrow x

She is back safe and sound. I went out for one last look and hunted in all the corners of the patio and she was down behind the power washer, tucked right up the corner, Oh the relief. I think she is fine I was worried when I picked her up because she was wet underneath, but luckily it is just water.

Thank you for giving me hope. Job for the weekend, wing clipping
