Phew - back in the modern world!

Recommended Posts

On Thursday we watched the wind here in Lincolnshire getting stronger and stronger. We then watched as the trees some of which are in our garden and some in a neighbours, started bending double and touching the power lines which run inbetween the trees. It was like a firework display - great plumes of smoke and blue flashes. Then a bang and the cables came crashing down - resulting in a total loss of power for our road and the next road. This happened at 2.30 and we had no power until 7pm on Saturday evening. We had a battery powered radio so we could hear what was happening elsewhere and felt so sorry for all the people who had flooding. Luckily we also had our woodburner so managed to keep warm, and also a cooker which runs on gas in our mobile caravan just outside the back door which we had fortunately moved in order to clean ready for selling.

It just makes you realise how we rely on electricity for so many things everyday. It resulted in us going to bed at 9pm each night as we couldnt watch tv, read or be on the computer. I was reading in bed using a torch (felt like I was at bording school)! Hope everyone else on the forum was safe and warm.
