Solitary chicken - need advice

Got my first pekin this year who is beautiful but am noticing her crop is enormous at night, much bigger than the silkies, it's very noticeable. I have checked and it's always empty in the morning so I guess it's ok, it's just large for such a little girl. Wondered if anyone has noticed it with their pekins?

I know what you mean a couple of mine sometimes have big crops when going to bed and I think god you pigged out today I think it just depends on the bird as long as its empty in the morning its nothing to worry about leanne

Yes, my smallest pekin Molly has a huge crop every night at the mo.....but I'm just glad she's eating well and find it reassuring Hers is the most noticable of all the girls.....must be her body shape, she is a neat little girl. Funnily enough she lays the largest eggs of them all

Oh bless her, they are right little characters. I really love them and hope to have more next year.

That's OK, all my pekins have done the same as yours; it just looks more prominent because their chests stick out more than on other birds.

Thats a good point DM, hubby thinks I have empty nest syndrome as I am always doing something with them, feel pretty confident with the silkies as I know whats normal for them now but not so much the little pekin.
