Been worried about my girls today.

Recommended Posts

The other day my girls didn't come out in the morning until almost 10am because it was so dark and horrible.

Today with the weather being so disgusting, they have hardly been out of the cube all day.

I think they came out once for food and that is all I saw of them.

I felt quite sorry for them.

Will they have eaten enough food ?

At bedtime I checked on them and they were huddled in the egg box together.

The wind has come back now. It's so strong - I hate it.

I hope tomorrows weather is going to better.

It has been a horrid day. You do worry so much about them in this sort of weather. My wooden walk in run is awful. I have clear plastic stapled to a lot of the panels to keep the wind out but allow the light in and then the odd panel here and there with no cover. The lot has come off twice today so I had to throw tarps up in desperation.

My other girls have been in the cube run, but they have a double layer of tarpaulins over them and it looks quite dark in there. They are dry, but when the wind blows through - they scatter in a panic poor things.

I think your girls have the right idea. At least they are out of the wind in there. Is it worth popping a feeder just inside the door so that they can see the food?

I think if the weather doesn't improve tomorrow then I might pop some food inside.

If it's as bad as it was today then I think I will bring them indoors in the broody cage instead. They enjoyed it inside last time the wind was really bad.

I wouldn't want them to go to bed hungry again, poor things.

I've felt so sorry for my girls too :(

They are in an omlet walk in run with cover but loads of wind and rain gets in at the sides and it is pretty soggy. The dust bath is quite moist too so they haven't even got that for entertainment! Today I threw some bliss bedding under the house so they had a cosy place to shelter, and gave them extra treats. I don't know whether Im being silly or if I should try to get things dryer for them.... Roll on springtime!!

My silly girls sit in the void under the cube, and sit and sit and sit until the weather clears but it didn't today.

They have a heavy duty cover and I used a clear tarpaulin around the skirt of the cube and run, so it is fairly dry and draught free, I also have a tarpaulin attached to the front of the cube roof and attached to the fence about 15 foot away so they do have a dry area and as the cube door is permanently open into the enclosure they can still potter a little bit. But the mammoth job for the new year is attach a fixed roof to the enclosure.....it is massive so the logistics are going to be a headache

My 5 girls seemed oblivious to the weather yesterday and pottered about in the garden. They usually put themselves to bed about 4pm at the moment....then at 6pm I hear a tap on the window and the poor things are standing in the rain and crazy wind looking very sorry for themselves. Their WIR door had slammed shut, they were locked out and I hadn't noticed! :(

They all seemed oblivious this morning and are back out again..the best thing about the storm is that their wIr is spotless, washed clean by the gallons of rain. I am dead pleased :o

Huuuuugggeee hail stones at the moment and it has gone so dark. I dashed to the window, thinking my poor girls, but one is happily having a dust bath whilst the others are sitting at the back chatting and watching the storm. I do love the plastic roof for just this reason, but with the high winds we are having - it is just as likely to fly past the window at any moment
