LizzieLloyd
Our little Hen Solo, Mad Mary has been settling into single lady status very well over the last few weeks but yesterday she took things to a new level when she started establishing pecking order over our two cats. Rather naively the OH thought he would give two cats and Mary tuna at the same time as a treat. Mary hoofed hers down in a split second then proceeded to dish out hefty pecks to the heads of both cats who were happily munching away on their tuna and then polished their tuna off too. Think we may have to rethink treat time as I have a nasty feeling the cats wont put up with hen pecks for too long!
Beantree
I'd be very surprised if the cats stood up to her LizzieLloyd. Pretty ferocious thing an angry 'top hen' (of her flock of one). For the safety of the cats I would feed them treats in another room.
LizzieLloyd
Think you could be right Beantree - she is a feisty madam! Better hope she doesnt start trying to peck us into submission
Egluntyne
I wouldn't mix them. My hens give next door's cat a real walloping when he is gormless enough to trespass on their patch.
Millie-Annie
My cats were terrified of the chickens. Marigold used to love to eat their food. She never had to peck them, they ran as soon as they saw her coming
chuckmum6
My tiny sablepoot has our cats cowering when she is out, she had one trapped to a point where I had to rescue the cat - a cat who slaughters pigeons bigger than the hen!
