Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Hi

 

As you may realise from recent posts, my Aunt has recently died and I am trying to arrange her funeral - I only knew her in later years when she already had alzheimers quite badly....

 

She used to love ballroom dancing in her earlier years so I was wondering if anyone could recommend some music from that would have been popular dancing music in the 1940 & 1950's.......

Did she have any old records or anything in her possessions that might help you choose something?

 

I dont know anything about Ballroom dance music - sorry.

Glenn Miller would be good or any other "big band" from that era such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie

The Blue Danube is a beautiful waltz. It depends what you want. Did you want something a bit more quick steppy. Or maybe a rhumba, but that's more Latin American. What kind of lady was she .

I don't really know what she was like - but I know she used to go out dancing alot especially when the soldiers were in town !!!

Just found a site called Ballroomdancers.com. Most of the old quickstep songs have got really jolly lyrics. Have a listen to to rumba songs/tunes. I'm just thinking waltz can be quite sombre. I would guess if you didn't know someone that well, you'd want something in the middle. Try foxtrot too

Begin the beguine is a lovely song by Ella Fitzgerald right era too I would say. You've got me on a mission now

I was going with Glenn Miller and moonlight Serenade on the way in and Benny Goodman - Sunny side of the street on the way out...

 

I will check out that site as I am really enjoying listening to the music...I would love to be transported back for a dance night....

Yes there is some amazing music. I used to dance many years ago, we used traditional not modern music. I loved it. Wish I could take it up again, but no partner and my OH would have a pink fit if I danced with random men
