going to order a cube but wanted to know why why the ladder dose not reach the floor dose any body know.

I don't know the correct answer, but here are several reasons why I think is a good thing:

• It doesn't get in the way of the hens during the day and they can walk under it
  
• It encourages them to do a bit of jumping and wing-flapping (they don't get much exercise in the run)
  
• It doesn't drag on the ground or get caught when you push the run around on its wheels
  
• It looks neater

It will probably help keep pests out like mice and rats wont it???

We've just had ours delivered and we were told that its to give them more room in the run to get around.

ours crouch down to sneak under the ladder, it looks quite sweet

ours do that too - only because they dig so much they've created a large mound near the ladder so they kep running out of space to squeeze through - we keep raking it in the morning but its a losing battle i'm afraid!

Does it also make it easier to move it about - the cube is supposed to be moveable but the ladder would catch on the ground if it touched the ground? I say that but ours stays where it is.
