Space Chick
Today I met 6 of my cycling heroes, and they were all awesome people! Joanna Rowsell, Laura Trott, dani King, Elinor Barker, Katie Archibald and Dame Sarah Storey. The last two won Silver and Bronze respectively in the Time Trial. I am happy
Charlottechicken
Were you a blithering idiot or did you manage intelligent conversation? I met a singer a while back, who I had, *ahem* admired in the early 90's. Managed to say "Wow" to his face then babble for about 30 seconds before OH cut in with some techy music talk He then gave me grief in the car home about how starstruck I was
Space Chick
Mix of conversation and babble I still can't quite believe it!
Laura007
I'm not one who normally struggles to come up with something to say, however when I met Christopher Lee I just stood there with my mouth open, Went bright red and stuck my finger out at him, yes that's right i stuck my finger at him. Not totally random as I had a bandaged finger and so did he. He was very nice a real living legend.
Daphne
The cycling must have been very exciting to watch - I saw Sir Brad romped home in the mens event as well My OH has 'met' Jo Rowsell - he followed her backside as she overtook him in a time trial a few years ago
Space Chick
We'd watched some of the cyclists practice the course the day before. We stood on the massive hill they had to contend with and watched how they coped. Sir Brad was so cool and it looked like he didn't need any effort at all, I said to hubby then "he'll be on the podium" Sir Brad even smiled and said hello whilst tackling this beast!! (Hubby later met him at the hotel entrance and got his autograph ) Also Emma Pooley who won the women's race also looked strong in practice on the hill, so equally no surprise that she got women's gold. We saw some elite athletes really struggle, some who later withdrew from the race I think the person who amazed me the most yesterday was Dame Sarah Storey, to get a bronze medal, with her daughter only a year old, and her disability and the fact she had a good decade on most of the riders.... Well it's just astounding and shows her dedication to sport
sparkysmum
Must have been an amazing sight. Know what you mean about being star struck, At last years G.N.R. I had my photo taken with Tony Audenshaw from Emmerdale who runs for Leukaemia Reasearch every year and then plays a full gig at the end with his fabulous band. Did I behave like a star struck teenager, you bet
