sjp
I've had 3 chicks hatch to day that aren't due till Saturday now I know 2 eggs had been sat on the day I put this broody into the broody coop so I expected there to be a gap between hatches so I'm pleasantly surprised that at least one of the Barnvelder cuckoo maran eggs have hatched but todays only just day 19 and these 3 are already up and about good thing though is her temperament has now changed she's no longer tying to take my hand off when I check on her this is her 3rd time at wanting to be a mommy but the first time she's been prepared to sit on eggs on her own away from her little group not bad for a legbar cross
Beantree
Good news SJP, but she will probably abandon the rest now because the chicks will need to eat and drink soon. If you have an incubator I would set it up (or find another broody). The late chicks can be put in with her at night on the start of their second day, which is when they start to eat and drink. Chickabee
congratulations. What a lovely story. Hope to see some pictures soon. I've got 2 broodies sitting on 6 cream legbar eggs. Don't expect them all to hatch though, as there was a bit of messing around at the beginning. Be nice to have one or 2 though
