Chickabee
I went away for a few days last week, leaving my girls in the capable hands of my mother in law and 2 twenty something daughters. They were all being wormed so didn't have to be let out, and I leave the pop holes open. So all you have to do mum is collect the eggs and make sure they have water. One of my girls was just coming to the end of a six week broody. I told mum about this and that she pinches the other girls eggs. When I got home the broody was sitting on 8 eggs and looking extremely content . Also mum had decided to give the girls extra feed as one of the containers was empty (not flubenvet pellets ). I'm going away again on Monday, I'm now dreading it
Cat tails
Oh well, no harm done right? Your broody had an awesome few days being extremely happy on 8 eggs. And you can still continue worming. I knew it was going to be difficult to get someone to take care of the chickies for 3 weeks, so I stuck em in boarding. For a whole 2 euro's a day! Considering the cat costs me 11 euro's a day in her pound, I might sneak her in with the chickens next year...
Chickabee
Very true cats tails. Ah well, that's cheered me up. What a nice outlook you have. I think that's called PMA, positive mental attitude.

Chickabee
You're just like my Dutch friend. She always laughs at me when I say something prophetic . Think I've got SMA, silly mental attitude
Cat tails
I think I'm suffering from PMA because I still have three weeks of holiday to go and if I don't I go positively mental...
Alis girls
ES was in charge for a week - we have an Eglu and the other end of run a wooden house built by OH for when I need to separate new chucks etc. Only got 2 girls and only one lays in wooden house. Except last week ES reported no eggs and we thought that she;d starting eating them again. Eglu door sticks due to uneven ground so he couldnt check in there. Arrived home opened Eglu to find 6 eggs un eaten. Did they know mum was away? Who knows what goes on in little checken heads.
