Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I am new to chicken keeping so please excuse what may be a silly question. I have bought two leghorns and before I left the seller she put drops at he back of their necks and said that would keep lice amd worms at bay. I have since read that this affects eggs. They are not yet at point of lay. Can anyone advise me please? Thankyou

It sounds like Frontline Spot-on? But it may be Ivermectin? I don't use either, but think they are a 28 day egg withdrawal.

Hi it wont matter if they are young and not laying as by the time they lay it would have worn off I use ivermectin and do an egg withdrawal of 7 days and we are all still alive Leanne

Thankyou both. I feel reassured now. Now all I have to worry about is what sex they are. I was assured they were hens, but according to breed description, hens have double fold floppy combs and my two have zig zag mohican type combs, I am keeping them separate from my 3 wyandottes. How old are males when they start crowing or do they crow from start? If so, I can start introducing to the others.

Hi when ive hatched leghorns I can sex by 8 weeks sometimes earlier they can crow by about 12 weeks leanne

They are still young so their combs won't have fully developed yet. As they come into lay, their combs will grow and go bright red.

How old are your birds, or how old did the seller say they were, and do you have a photo?

Thanks again. The seller said they were approx 14 weeks aand definietly hens. I hope so because I am not allowed roosters according to my deeds of the house. They are settling in nicely now but will keep them separate from the wyandottes until I know for sure if they are hens. I have photo but have not worked how to upload it yet onto this forum.
