mullethunter
Shelley is my 'bottom of the heap' pekin. I love her to bits and she's very entertaining but I'm not sure she's quite all there. She's the same age as Bernie, but whereas Bernie has been laying for a month Shelley still has her little yellow baby comb and runs away from stuff (me if she feels like it and the big girls) rather than crouching. The thing that concerns me slightly though is the manic flapping about. When they're free ranging she often suddenly, for no apparent reason, flaps and sometimes slightly flies about in manic frantic circles! It's so funny but doesn't seem quite normal. Does anyone else have beasts like this?
mollyripkim
I know what you mean, I have ten 21 week old growers, suddenly one will decide to have a mad moment dashing around, wings flapping and lifting off the ground. Several will join but the old girls just look at them as if they are mad! There doesn't seem to be a trigger, it does make me laugh.
mullethunter
I'm glad it's not just Shelley! I'm sure she's not wired up right though
coco
My pekins do this and some of them are about three or four so its not just a young bird thing. My big girls do it as well
Pottage
My ex batties all do this. In fact, what really happens is one will randomly dash across the lawn flapping like an utter loon and that just entices the other 3 to do the same!
