sjp
my Easter hatched CLB has finally laid her first egg today at 35 weeks old it looks a nice shade of blue I think but I'll have to wait until it's light tomorrow before I'm sure. she's spent nearly all day in the nest box then just as it starts to get dark she lays it on in the run about a foot from the door I just about missed standing on it that's now doubled the number of girls that are now laying as one of the older girls re started yesterday now up to 4 Edited January 13, 2015 by Guest
Luvachicken
I would just love some fresh eggs. A couple of red faces here but that is all.
sjp
I've been lucky this winter I've only had one full week without eggs back in early November but I'd had 2 good weeks before then so I had enough to cover my customer's requirements on all but one week when I had to owe her an egg

sjp
Your Barnevelder x Maran must be lovely she looks more or less like a cuckoo maran (her dad) but has yellow legs like her mom but a lot more chilled out and a lot more inquisitive that her mom was at that age but her mom was raised as a pair with this pullets dad (and until she started to moult in October she was is shadow) she was part of a quartet 2 girls and 2 boys all broody raised she's got a nice temperament and when I can catch her and pick her up she don't try to take chunks out of me like some of the others do. over all she's becoming one of my favourites
