The Dogmother Posted February 27, 2015 Share Posted February 27, 2015 My grandparents had about 8 acres or so; they kept goats (milk, meat and amusement); chickens (meat and eggs); geese (meat and eggs), rabbits (meat) and sometimes pigs too. Daphne Posted March 1, 2015 Share Posted March 1, 2015 There are a couple of goats kept near us in Portugal, and in fact there are small flocks dotted about all over the place. It is really common to find an old man/woman sitting under a tree with the flock grazing under the olives or cherries (not in season obviously - there'd be no fruit left!) and then to see them being driven to the next place. The 2 goats that live up the road must be quite different to each other - one is allowed to roam freely (there is no dog to help with the herding) whilst the other one has to go everywhere on a long lead Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
