Alis girls
Today the girls were moved into their WIR lovingly built by OH. Lovely and clean - food and water moved - last to go was the girls all 2 of them and the Eglu pod. OH picked up Rhoda who shrieked " Oy mum - help get him to put me down - let me go bok bok" then came back for Maggie May complete with bumpa bit didnt stop her cursing " put me down now you big oaf Muuuuuuuuuuuuum - gerrroff" Now in new run they trashed it whilst I dismantled eglu run and got pod ready to move. We carried it down to WIR and OH said " open door" - two beady eyed hens surveyed their escape route. We managed to get it in with little trouble. The girls wandered round it chuntering " wheres our normal bedroom - dont like this bok bok" They normally sleep in a wooden hut but its falling apart. I have just been to say goodnight - they scowled at me crossly. Now going to turn old run into veg patch but not this year as will be too acidic so will use grow bags. My new run is lovely - much easier on my poor old back and easier to keep clean.
redsunset
Ha! Can so relate! Had a nice big 8 x 10 shed put up for the girls, roosting bars installed, boxes for nesting.........they wandered in and had a look at the new palace, looked at each other and in their own language said equivalent of 'nah, prefer our old little wooden smelly coops ta'... That's gratitude for you!
