Daphne
I hope this doesn't offend anybody but please don't let your husband go the terracotta route - there are some houses painted that colour in Portugal and they are mega depressing. I know its all a matter of taste, but really they are horribly dour even in the bright sun, I can imagine it would be even worse in an English climate. I quite agree with you about the green as well
Charlottechicken
There's no chance of offending anyone in our village as there is a good mix of house styles and rendered cottages painted shades of white, cream and yellow. Apparantly, our house was only changed to white about six years ago, it was previously green It looked horrible on streetview!
Valkyrie
There's a house in Hartley Wintney that's painted a grey colour, but when you drive into the village it looks almost lavender coloured. I really like it! I also think it's nice to have pretty coloured render, maybe not quite Tobermory in your face colours, but a nice primrose or pale buff or something is really cheerful. Charlottechicken
I quite like the idea of a grey-lavender colour Trouble is the house is called Fern Cottage so I think if anything there should be green somewhere, although I really don't like the green render idea
Valkyrie
Buff (but not mustard colour) - pale version of bracken when the green has finished. There, sorted and it would look good with green windows too.
Charlottechicken
You are giving me too many ideas! I've just seen olive grey uPVC and it looks nice, and I could repaint the cottage a very soft green too
