Thumbcat
Hi I've just bought a Mk2 classic second hand and there doesn't appear to be anything that holds the slide out tray in place. Looking at the instructions online it says you should slide it in until you hear a click, but mine doesn't seem to have any sort of mechanism for this. I suspect it's an older Mk2. Is it safe like this? On the plus side, I've just found that I have 4m of run when I thought it only came with 3m! My chickens are going to be happy ladies
The Dogmother
If you turn the poo tray upside down, there should be a long metal catch/hook on the underside, which holds it in place. It is attached to the poo tray with a screw. It looks like a flat hook made from a sheet of metal. If you don't have one, then give Omlet a ring tomorrow - they are usually happy to send out spares, even if they aren't listed in their online shop. Purplemaniacs
Sometimes I find one of the metal catches'hook on one of my eglus doesn't catch, I bend it gently and then it is fine. Chrissie
The Dogmother
They do bend easily I codul do with replacing the ones on my cube.
Thumbcat
Thanks for the replies. I spoke to someone at Omlet this morning who said she thought the older classics didn't have this, and I certainly can't see anywhere to fit it. I think I'll just put a few bricks up against the back of eglu so it can't be pulled out by anything.
The Dogmother
I have one of the first mark 2 classics, and that has a clip. The mark 1 configuration was completely different
Purplemaniacs
My first which is 7 years old has one. Could you post pictures of the bottom of the tray and the base it slides into? Chrissie
Thumbcat
I can't work out how to attach photos at the moment, but having been to have a proper look (not in the dark this time) there are three holes on the pull out bit where something should be. I emailed Omlet yesterday but they misunderstood and sent a reply about a lynch pin for the lid locking bar. I've emailed back so will see what happens. Fortunately my ebay eglu will still be a bargain even once I've replaced the rusty and missing parts. I'd better go and do some work now. Is it just me, or does the prospect of getting chickens consume your every thought and stop you getting on with other stuff?
Thumbcat
Well I had a very speedy response and they're going to pack it into my order if they have one, so I'll see what arrives.
mimi5
Is it just me, or does the prospect of getting chickens consume your every thought and stop you getting on with other stuff? Quite normal chicken owner behaviour "Just popping out to the chickens" one of my favourite phrases, but where does the time go????? Don't ever hatch will you.......you get nothing done, but lots of chick watching My chicks are 3 weeks old
