Alis girls
As you know I have a little flock of 3 - Maggie May and old bird - wonky beaked, bossy and naughty egg eater, and 2 newbies of about 1month Demelza and Prudie. They are happy in their WIR and havent FR for a while as worming them and have been busy. However today when I went down they had been trashing their home The corn bin had been tipped over and the bag of mealworms (vacumm packed) was on the floor with a small amount of corn. They obviously had tried to get into the bag but failed. I was a bit annoyed and said " be it on your heads if you have tummy ache tonight" They do have things to amuse them in the run. Couldn't be cross for long as I'd had an egg this morning and 2 this evening (Maggie is laying soft shelled ones so must be new girls) - this is amazing as for months I seemed to have one thing after another - ill and then dying hens and a persistant egg eater so it is lovely to have some eggs for family use. Strangely I think hens are a bit like teenagers
Beantree
Chickens are great. Keep surprising you all the time and I don't think any other pet could do that? Make for wonderful cuddles as well and our pet cock is on my lap asleep and snoring as I type. They are always like teenagers.

Alis girls
Mine surpassed themselves yesterday. I decided the WIR was in need of a clean and plonked the 3 ladies in their FR bit where we could see each other. Nearly done and realised Prudie one of my newbies was ramrading the fence (very flimsy ) and joined me in the run Maggie attempted similar but was too big to fit thro gap so rescued her and Demi before any injuries occured. The other new trick is as I let myself out of the run having attended to their needs I find that one chicken has followed me out and is standing at my feet with a " ok what next?" look on their face. And its not always the same hen. I have never had this prob before as never had WIR before. Quite disconcerting to find I am walking up the garden with a hen running along behind.
