Janepie33
That is ...................Introduced a single chicken to an existing flock of 4. Thanks to loads of advice on the forum, I seem to have successfully introduced a new girl into my happy little flock of ex batts, with not a drop of blood shed, but the loss of a rather spectacular display of tail feathers which will hopefully grow back to their former glory. I was a little concerned when my daughter informed me that she (we ) had agreed to take on a sad single girl from down the road. One moth later, they all seem (mostly ) to be getting on. Interestingly, the worst bullies were the ones with bald tails and the one with the wonky beak, which makes me think that they were bullied in their former life. The only bullying we have now is top girl Kermit running at new girl Elsie in an intimidating way and Elsie knows to be the last one to go for any tasty snacks . Elsie is somewhat bigger than the other girls, so I though she would be more assertive. She wasn't, but things can change! New girl Elsie has also laid 3 in the last week.
