Cat tails
My run has now stood on bare earth for more than a year. Still very happy with it, apart from one tieny tiny problem.... They dig themselves out! To bloody China! The run floor was one pocked lunar landscape with the chickens trying to dig themselves out under the skirting. And surprisingly succesful too... So I have placed the run on the patio and decided to dig the whole thing out and placing bricks around the rim and filling the floor with left over paving slabs. Made a muddy start this morning and will take some pictures during the whole proces.

Cat tails
Filled the hole up and left it to settle for three weeks, when on holiday. (Me and the chickens. Not together though!) Placed the coop back today. (Hopefully in the right spot... Can't see the bricks and slabs anymore) Collecting the ladies tomorrow and will see what they think of their new and improved dustbath! Cat tails
Collected the Garden Girls today and they were delighted to be home. So much that they started digging immediately! The lady at the petting zoo said they had to prevent them from digging out there too! I think one or two are molding. Run at petting zoo was covered in feathers and Ginger and Nutmeg look a bit bedraggled... Already got my first egg! (On the same date as the very first egg last year ) and Cinnamon dug herself a nice dustbath. Edited August 11, 2015 by Guest
