Leicester_H
Hi I now have an empty eglu and 3m run. Was looking to get 3 more ex-bats - but can't find any rescues near(ish) Leicester in the near future. (Previously had 6 ex-bats from BHWT (Coventry) in WIR but that's now occupied by 3 cream legbars - its a bit large for them but they like it !) Any ideas ? (Hope it isn't the wrong time of year ??) H PS - Ignore hen list in signature - it's out of date - will get round to fixing it sometime soon(ish)! gavclojak
I guess you have tried the obvious BHWT? What about local rescue centres, they may be able to help or do a google search for farm fresh eggs and see if any of the local egg producing farms are willing to rehome a few of their hens. Leicester_H
I guess you have tried the obvious BHWT? Yes - that's where we got them before. Leicestershire RSPCA have 80 - so not too far at all ! Thoroughly cleaning run and eglu tomorrow and waiting to hear from them as to what food they will need at first (ex-bat crumb/mash/???) - so hope to get 3 by the end of the week - EXCITED!!! Leicester_H
Oh my gosh I am excited for you, can't wait to hear all about those lucky girls....hold on girls Leichester_H is coming for you:)) That's nice - this is such a friendly helpful forum. Eglu & run have been pressure washed, filled with lovely new aubiose. Layers mash (that's what they're on at present) has been purchased. Phoned to ask if we could collect them this afternoon - NO - vet is visiting and they'll be very busy - so have to wait until tomorrow !!! Don't really mind, they are a charity "Woodside Animal Centre is proud to be part of the independent RSPCA branch network we would emphasise we are a separate self-funding charity and are reliant on the donations we gratefully receive from the generous people of Leicestershire". 1 sleep to go (for them and us!!), H
