jparkes13
Hello I have a couple of questions, someone might be able to help with? I have 3 chickens and a small coop which is fine for the ladies. Now it gets darker in the evening they toddle off around 5 until 6 the nest morning. I was wondering what their sight it like at night and do chickens like to be in complete darkness? I was wondering whether they would like a small light in their coop - nothing too bright - just a low watt LED? Does anyone have any advice and also suggestions on what light to use if any? Would need to be solar power as there is no electricity at the coop. Thanks in advance.
Beantree
Hello Jparkes. Coop lights will stop them from settling and they will want to eat and drink so they are best left in complete darkness.
mullethunter
When it gets dark they go to sleep. When it starts to get light they wake up. They don't need artificial light (unless you're trying to artificially increase day length for egg production).
