Chicken bald back

Lucie's top part of her beak slightly overhangs the bottom part and I wondered if it will cause her a problem.

I was hoping she would file it down herself on the patio part of their run but hasn't yet.

It is very thin at the end and quite pointy compared to the normal rounded end they have.

The top of her beak also looks very 'old' and I'm not sure why.

 

Do you think I need to take her to the vets to trim it ?

(Think they might laugh at me for taking a 3rd chicken in almost as many weeks )

How old is she Luvachicken? I'd have thought if it was going to be a problem it already would be.

She is my oldest girlie

Can't think off the top of my head exactly how old.

Strange thing is, is that it's only just got long over the last couple of months

Just looked back in my previous posts to find that I got her in June 2012 so that makes her almost 4.

She was only 6 weeks old then

One of my bantam orps has the same, she hatched in 2014 and it doesn't seem to bother her, definitely eats ok.

Thanks mollyripkim, Lucie appears to eat fine although she does seem to flick her head to get the food in.

I have got some new scales so will be able to keep a better eye on any weight loss.

I will see how she goes and then perhaps take her.
