mullethunter
Just a quick warning. A bit of my Omlet fence (not electric) was a bit saggy so some of it was lying on the ground. When I was gardening yesterday I found a hedgehog tangled in it. Luckily I don't think he'd been there very long. I cut him out and put him in a cat box with some wet cat food and biscuits. When I came back half an hour later all the food was gone, so I opened the door, and when I came back again he was gone. Hopefully he'll be ok but I feel dreadful. I don't routinely check the fence so he could have been there for ages and died. Have put that bit of fence up properly (they should be able to go under now which is probably what they normally do) and will always check now. The Dogmother
Good advice! Do bear in mind that they can range across as many as 5 gardens.... Yes, that surprised me too! So a few gaps under your garden fence will help them to travel.
mullethunter
Yes - I made sure I had gaps when I put the fence in the hedge between the garden and the footpath (apparently they need a hole the size of a CD) - it was the saggy fence that got him. Hopefully he's OK now - might stay up tonight to see if I see him.
