Ham6506
I've been letting our girls roam since we've had them but now want to recover the garden a bit so I'm reducing the amount of free ranging they can do. There is plenty of space in the run for them and in addition I've fenced off the area around their run and let them range in there most days. To keep them entertained I've started hanging a cabbage in the run for them to nibble on but they just are not interested. Any idea why? sjp
their finding tastier thing to nibble on plus cabbage isn't very tasty this time of year compared to grass shoots and young leaves that are full of sugars plus all the insects and bugs they can find beats salad any day of the week
mullethunter
Mine ignored a cabbage for ages when I first got them, and even now they only really eat it as a last resort if they're shut in their run for a while.
gavclojak
My ladies won't entertain a cabbage, broccoli, Spring greens or the like. They absolutely adore a corn on the cob bobbing, melon and grapes...such fussy ladies
sjp
mine much prefer cauliflower and sprout plants the rougher the better. if I clean up a cabbage to much then it'll sit in the run for a couple of days. I don't start feeding brassicas much before late October through once the apples and non keeping squashes have finished. this time of year they've got plenty of leaves to got at plus it's nearly time to prune the grape vine and apple trees so they'll get the prunings to go through
