B rocker
We have 2 ordinary commercial hens and a Peking bantam, all got at the same time from same place. They are all very friendly and docile but the 2 bigger girls do bash the bantam, not often and not very aggressively, and usually only when there are treats! We are not unduly concerned as she seems happy and is getting her fair share and enjoys lots of cuddles, but there does seem to be a 'best friends' issue going on. Should we get another Pekin or will that just make things worse when everything seems to be settling. We have had them for nearly 3 weeks. Any tips? Would be grateful to re dive advice. Cat tails
From what I've heard, introducing a single hen is not easy and wouldn't be my first option. Chickens will have a pecking order and that term should be taken very literally. They will tell eachother off with a peck. A new chicken might not immidiately become friends with your other pekin. She might see your pekin as weak and her chance to get a step higher in the group and do the same.
mullethunter
I agree more or less with Cattails. The pekin is probably OK on her own really, but if you want some more I would go for two rather than one.
