Assisted care for inlaws

Recommended Posts

We got back from a weekend away to French social workers trying to contact us about my Inlaws. They aren't that old (72 & almost 70), but a lifetime of drinking has taken it toll and after many falls (both) and strokes (fil) I think someone in the new village they have moved to has reported them to the health professionals. We want to find something near us but not too near, but not sure if they will even be offered anything due to the alcoholism and their living in France for over 20 years.

Can anyone offer any help or advice? We have let the sw in France know of a place near us which I think they will contact. Please PM me and can this post be locked, admins? Many thanks.

Have tried to PM you but only succeeded in sending to myself - doh  My IT Dept has gone off to play with a friend this afternoon

So sorry to hear you are having to deal with this. Have you contacted YOUR local Social Services to get their advice on whether your ILs are eligible for care in the UK? They should be able to tell you what the situation is and thus give you all the info that you need to move forward. Good luck.
