Luvachicken
I didn't know that chickens slept that deeply until today I went to give them some sunflower hearts before they went to bed to find my lovely Chloe fast asleep. She was very fast asleep. I shook the bag and she didn't wake up and then I undid the 2 bolts on their run door and she still didn't wake up. It was only when I called them that she burst into life and tucked into the sunflower hearts. She was obviously very tired. I always thought that they didn't actually sleep that deeply. She didn't have her head under her wing but wondering now if she was just really tired or could be coming down with something ?
AndyRoo
Well, I hope she's just a lazy-bones like me! My OH has commented before that if an apocalypse started while I was sleeping, I'd miss the whole thing!
Beantree
Some do sleep deeply when they are very secure or very tired. If she is tired it is worth checking her digestion (poos) and her crop (should be empty in the morning) as we've had three digestive impactions in the last two weeks resulting in them falling off the perch during the night. They were all an indirect result of moulting.
Luvachicken
That's good to know Beantree. I always thought they just dozed. Quite sweet really when you think about it. I think she just needed a good rest She has been fine and dandy today.
