Valkyrie
Laptop was sent off for repair on the 3rd due to the socket not taking any charge and battery not recharging. Got it this evening and it still doesn't work plus the hinge is broken. So very disappointed and angry that it's worse than before I sent it off. Apparently "repaired" parts have a 90 day warranty - doesn't mention damage. It came back in a slim Staples box but no padding at all! The annoying thing was I didn't notice or check it at the counter but just popped it back into mt laptop case - well padded!!!! Grrrrrrr!!!! Blackrocksrock
Sympathise with you - many years ago had issues with a computer from them but never used them since - they are currys as well as PC world. My laptop of 1 year I tripped over the cable and like yours was not charging - I knew I had dislodged something inside - last week I took it to bits and managed to sort the bracket that had bent and put it back together again - It charged up fine but would not come on - My son was here this week and we opened it up again and I had failed to attach one cable inside - a plastic strip! - it now works. It costs so much to repair them I was not going to bother to get it to a shop!. I would complain to them and see how you get on it is very disappointing. Valkyrie
OH is going with me in the morning. He won't admit defeat and kept trying the charger Then he thought he'd try his charger - and it didn't work. Hah - he went to bed a while ago and he's just come back down and wandering around with yet another cable! Surprise surprise - it doesn't fit. I'm biting my tongue! Blackrocksrock
I bet its like mine and inside somewhere that the cable is not attaching somehow to charge it like mine.
Cinnamon
I have had issues with them too, also with a broken charger. I took it in, they sent it off then a couple of weeks later I collected my replacement charger from them. This one didn't work either, so again they sent it off, & again I went & collected a replacement....again it didn't work! They again asked me to bring it in. However, by this time I was wondering if they were simply giving me back the same charger I had sent off to them - the faulty one. So I took a silver Sharpie & drew a cross in a very discreet place & they sent it off. And guess what - when the 'replacement' came back it had a silver cross on it So 3 times they had just NOT BOTHERED TESTING THE CHARGER & SENT ME THE SAME ONE BACK AGAIN. I was furious, wrote to head office & got £50 vouchers, but I vowed there & then to never, never ever cross their threshold again.
Janepie33
Had similiar issues with DS's computer and PC world. They were absolutely useless and didn't fix the problem. We bought the computer for him for university about 7 years ago and I also vowed and declared never to go there again, but last week I caved in and (reluctantly ) bought an alarm clock. Valkyrie
Well it was due to come back today - not heard yet. I had a phone call from the engineer mid-week. He said that the battery had died completely although the electric current was now working it (I know it isn't necessary for a battery as this one I'm using at the moment is hubby's end it runs from the mains). Apparently I should have been told that the battery usually doesn't work after the repair. Well no I wasn't told that. He then said my CD/DVD tray wouldn't come out and he had a devil of a job to open it and did I want that fixed at an extra cost!!! No - because the darned thing wasn't like that when it got sent off - it kept opening every time I brushed my arm against it and I am forever telling it off! So result is broken parts fixed and so is the DVD thing at no extra cost to me (goodwill he said) and he told me that if I did want a battery - no stock available - it would be cheaper to get it elsewhere as apparently they get theirs off ebay!!!! Nice guy to chat to but ye gods!
