AndyRoo
Hello all, Of those who use this bedding: how long do you find it lasts before it needs replacing? I've calculated for a run our size it's going to cost around £40 to do a complete change, whereas the bark chipping we currently use is less than half that! I'd read that it was much better for keeping flies away etc., so I'm thinking about switching - I'm just not sure it's economically viable! The Dogmother
It's a piece of string thing - depending on how many birds in it and how long they are in that area for, so in the winter when they will probably be on 24/7 AI lock-down, mine will need cleaning every 2 weeks. Otherwise about every 6-8 weeks. Bark tends to produce mould spores, so not ideal.

The Dogmother
If there's a manky area, in between changes then I will scoop and refresh. I rake it through with ground sanitising powder weekly. Not expensive really, but if your run is larger then you will need to do it less frequently... it doesn't need to be deep at all.
BridieLou
When we moved the girls in to the summer house during the bird flu, I used Aubiose and considered it no better than Easibed or any other wood shavings. Not sure what the fuss is about. You need to make sure your run is completely dry in order for it to be worth it. Any moisture will be soaked up. Mine are just on soil atm and it's the best I've had so far.
