patsylabrador
One of my boys has just started a new job Tramping ( I think it might also be called Trunking) It's all new to me but basically involves driving a big artic up and down and to and fro the country. He's absolutely loving it for now. He doesn't know where he'll be going or where he'll be sleeping or what load he'll be carrying on any given day. He's not known for roughing it and has got himself some good kit together and is having a great time. He's heading towards Yorkshire at the moment. It doesn't appeal to me at all but I've never known him so happy at work. It's a lot of responsibility and I didn't realise just how much is involved. I guess the novelty will wear off at some point but for now he's enjoying work feeling like an adventure.
Luvachicken
So glad that your son has found a job that he likes. It sounds like quite an adventure each day not knowing where he might be going. What kind of things has he delivered so far ?
soapdragon
Never heard the term! I read the title of your post and wondered if it was something that I should click on Seriously, sounds like he is having a blast - he obviously has a sense of adventure. When you have no ties then I can see that the unpredictability and not knowing where you'll be headed next would be fun! As you say, lots of responsibility and a great thing to put on his CV when he eventually moves on (well, further on!)
patsylabrador
So far he's carried giant paper reels, beer, timber, paper for printing on, bales of insulation, soft drinks and I can't remember the other loads. His last job was in class 2 lorries delivering in central London so this is pretty different. I agree, Tramping doesn't sound very wholesome does it. patsylabrador
I forgot the most bizarre load.... half the lorry was nail varnishes and half was paddling pools.

patsylabrador
He's had quite a week! He left for work early hours Monday and is still out there. He's sent me some amazing photos of his week and one from the cab with icicles snaking down the windscreen. The cab is warm and cosy and he packed bags of food. The trailer he picked up yesterday seized up on a busy roundabout, most people were cool and grown up and dealt with it, a couple offered help but a couple were abusive, got to wonder how that works. He's off up north now.
