Elderly cat breathing difficulties when purring

Does anybody of you know how to clean slow running drainage in the bathroom? As we live in a house which probably has very small drainage pipes, it always gets slow very soon. I tend to use Caustic Soda every 2 weeks, but that surely can't be very good for the environment.

 

Any ideas?

Put sodium bicarbonate down the drain then follow it with a good glug of white vinegar. It will fizz up alarmingly but is quite effective. You may have to repeat a few times for a really grotty one.

 

Non green tip for hairy plug holes. Get some cheap supermarket own brand hair removing cream and squirt it down the plug hole. Leave for time stated on packet and it should break up the hair below the plug hole, then you can rinse the gunk away.

I will try the bicarbonate recipe first since it sounds quite cheep! Thanks!
