ubereglu
Well after the pumpkin plants took over the garden and had to be lopped and the fruit kept rotting we finally harvested two pumpkins!!! So far we ate the little one and made 1/2 of it into some yummy soup and roasted the other half with bacon and dried sage! mmmm In the end I think we had about 1.5kg of edible flesh from it-I have no idea how much it weighed as a whole though! I'm hoping to carve the big pumpkin and make it into a lantern and eat the cut out bits during the week!
theherd123
They look great Liz - at least you got some! Our Atlantic Giants only grew to the size of tennis balls!
ubereglu
That's surprising Emma, as I'd grown them from the seeds you'd sent me! Well I suspect the big hole I dug and filled with chicken droppings must have paid off!!!

ubereglu
That's interesting, I found them really easy to grow!!! The big ones has now been turned into a rather fetching Halloween Lantern!
Martin B
I had 5 pumpkins off 6 very large plants, they took over at least 1/3 of the allotment in the end. The Atlantic Giants grew to about basketball size for me!
