jomaxsmith
My Rhode Star is now 19 weeks old and has started to crouch (sometimes!). She has also lost almost all her prominent tail feathers over the last week or so - is this normal in a hen her age or am I doing something wrong? Thanks Jo
Couperman
I don't think they usually moult as young as that but I could be wrong. Ours haven't moulted yet and we have had them from point of lay, in May. I maybe varies from breed to breed. I am sure some of the more experienced Omleteers whould know for sure. Kev. Carol U
I got mine in May and they haven't moulted yet. Is it possible that one of the others is having a go at her tail feathers? This does sometimes happen before they settle down together.
Snowy
I had 2 from 12 weeks old - they did go through a partial moult before coming into lay, including tail and wing feathers. I'd say that is what it is, but obviously keep an eye out for any pecking.
Sheilaz
It sounds like a normal moult, yes it can happen at that age, more noticeable in some than others.
