Cate in NZ
Thanks for the tips grd & Sarah, I'll look out for those. Strangely enough I'm going very close to a Waitrose this afternoon- might just have to pop in there I've got to admit that I agree with you and the food miles in principle Sheila, and always watch the mileage on veg, very strict about that, more relaxed but guilty about fruit, but home-grown bananas aren't exactly in plentiful supply, but then, when it comes to wine Well, I do think about it a bit, feel guilty a bit when I buy it, but once I've pulled the cork I forget it all
Richard T
You can (usually) get English wines from Waitrose. There's a very good English "champagne" which I think is made by Chapel Down in Tenterden, Kent. So you can't get any fewer "wine" miles than that Kate A! Guest
Waitrose do 'Cliff Richard' wine as well - from his very own vineyard in Portugal. Yes, I did try and I didn't like it (and no, I'm not a Cliffy fan - but Clare Taylor is). After two glasses, it went down the sink. Now, I wonder how many 'drain miles' it had to travel.... Cinnamon
The drain is probably all the cleaner for it
Guest
I think so too. It certainly cleaned me out.

Richard T I've actually had a very nice white from Meopham vineyard, can't remember what it was called though. I keep meaning to go back there and get some more- I simply wasn't brave enough to buy sufficient bottles on the first try. Meopham's only 10 miles or so from my home in Dartford, so I really must go back there soon. Waitrose is nearer though- 2 bottles of grd's recommended Clancy's now sitting snuggly on my wine rack

After the first glass you will feel flushed. After the second glass you will feel very happy indeed. After the third glass, you will not remember where you are. After the fourth glass.... you don't remember what happened but find yourself awake at 06:30 in the eglu run.

Cate in NZ
Had an absolute nightmare day at work today- one of those if it could go wrong it will days and came home ranting and raving, and well nigh frothing at the mouth. Well, the Clancy's was beaming at me as I walked in, positively begging to be opened... so I did Absolutely fabulous stuff grd thanks, unfortunately I was obliged to share with hubby, so just draining the 2nd glass as I type and regretting the fact the bottle is now empty. Just about forgotten the hell that is work now... if only I had another glass I might start to see the funny side of all today's disasters. But that would mean opening another bottle... in which case getting to work tomorrow might be even more painful than usual . So. best stick at just the 2 glasses then Thanks for the tip off though grd- I probably wouldn't have spotted it without your posting. Please do pass on any other recommendations Back to Waitrose on Friday I think- such a pity it's so close to daughters' school- and I simply have to do the school run several times a week

Cinnamon
I got some of your wine today Graham & will open it tonight In favour of the wine I recommended, it has a screw cap, which means you can get into the bottle quicker Edited January 26, 2006 by Guest
