Cate in NZ
In this weather Clare easy access clothes are the last thing I want. More like several layers as firmly secured as I can manage Easy access wine though, now we're talking. Sometimes, to be frank, a corkscrew is just too much like hard work . I'll have to sample your wine recommendation too Sarah, but I think that was Tesco wasn't it I'll can't remember now, I'll scroll back and check. Waitrose is a lot easier for me, but when we're talking good wine a short trek to Sidcup Tesco could be arranged Edited January 26, 2006 by Guest

Guest
Aha - I take it you've opened the bottle?? Or is it your second?? I've opened one too. I love the deep red stain on the end of the cork - when it's like that you just know it's going to be a good 'un.
The Dogmother
mmmm When I used to drink, I loved a good Barolo. Italian reds are hard to beat.

The Dogmother
Not any more. I think that Phil's glad of that, he thinks I'm too much of a handful as I am! My main vices are cake (well food of any kind really), and Phil! I go through chocolate phases, but have more of a savoury tooth, but the doesn't stop me from appreciating G&Bs. Popcorn
Sarah, you have just broken my dream.... I was drinking red wine (which I do under normal circumstances) and smoking a cigarette (which I don't - ever) and I then started to panic as I suddenly remembered I was pregnant Glad it wasn't real life..... Sheilaz
I'm off to waitrose later so will see what's on offer and let you wine lovers know! Better make sure I pick plenty up though as they'll be sold out!! BBx Buffie isn't back from Waitrose yet! Sarah, thanks for the tip re red. I can only drink white, so stock up Pinot Grigio by the case But, for OH or guests, I might buy the occasional red, so I guess I could manage to carry back one bottle for them. Way back in our youth, we lived in France for a few months. Being penniless, we survived on baguettes, milk, chocolate (Chocolate sandwiches, yum!) & tinned lentils. On a good day, we would also buy the cheapest wine...the sort in plastic bottles (like mineral water). It was prob. the same price as the water, and would have been good as drain cleaner. But, we couldn't afford any better, and knew no different. I really appreciate a good £3 bottle now! I wouldn't like to get too used to fine wines, or I would no longer enjoy the cheaper ones. Luxury is a bottle of Fleurie though. Well, 2 sips for me.
