chickencam
I also hate the way everyone spends so much at Christmas and the way that all this shopping makes people sooooo grumpy I like family time and festive spirit and if someone is rude then I am extra nice just to spite them does that make me just as bad I have spent the morning browsing the internet for pressies and we had a blitz in Tesco clothes department yesterday evening. Can't shop during the day at the moment or for about the last 3 weeks because I seem to have one poorly child or another at home all the time
Jules.
We have done our Christmas shopping & most of it was done on line. We bought loads of smellies from Boots in their January sale & that stuff has lasted us all year for birthday pressies & also some Christmas presents we save £30 a month for covering the cost of Christmas, & also the boy's birthdays which are in January. We also have the car MOT & service done in Dec (it's booked in for next week) which will go on the interest free credit card, to be paid off in Feb/March as we both get our bonus from work in Feb & also we have no council tax to pay in those months too- like Charlottechicken! BeckyBoo
Well, I've just got back from our local shopping centre and I think I now have half of Toys R Us to wrap. I have 18 children to buy for but managed to get something that I think they will each love for the princely sum (once I averaged it) of £10 per child which I didn't think was bad. And yes they're noisy, brightly coloured plastic things, and they're not educational, and they're not really enviromentally friendly or eco toys or anything but they are FUN FUN FUN which is what I think Christmas for children is all about. Phew, was a mammoth session tho and I seem to have one poorly child or another at the minute Liz, middle on today, eldest Tuesday and smalled boy has an annoying cough that keeps him up at nights. Now just got the adults to buy for - bet that costs me more than a tenner each! I love Christmas and I LOVE Christmas shopping, I love buying things I think people will like. HATE wrapping though, takes HOURS Mrs B

BeckyBoo
... I have 18 children to buy for ... falls over backwards in amazement! That's not including my own three either! Everyone we know has children and at least two, mostly three as well. 6 are cousins or second cousins or whatever, the others are truly best friends children where we've stopped buying for each other and now buy for the children instead. AND I've just managed to find something for my Dad - he saw a Jack Vettirano - the Singing Butler - which although we must have walked past the shop a hundred time in the last 6 months, and it's been in the window all that time, he announced that he's "always really really liked that picture". Add that to the " I'd love a picture to go in my front room" he came out with in the summer and Bob's your bloomin' uncle! He's my most difficult one to buy or (apart from my SIL) so to find something he'd really like is such a result! Mrs B
Guest
...managed to find something for my Dad - he saw a Jack Vettirano - the Singing Butler - always liked Jack Vettriano, quite film noir-ish work. A lot of critics poo poo his stuff as being too commercial but who ever took any notice of a critic My favourite of his is "In Thoughts of You" Going off now to google the singing butler! **edit** ah yes, I know that one, very whimsical! He has good taste. If I didn't have walls covered with art already, I think I'd probably go for one of his next.
