Chicken_Cottage
Hi all, this is my first broody hen and she seems serious as every egg laid in the nest box is being added to her collection, no matter the hen that lays it (currently up to and all have a chance of being fertile as we have a very attentive boy with the hens. It's been a week so far and she is still sitting and being protective. The general advice on here seems to be to move her and the eggs to a ground level space separate from the others, anyone have any suggestions for the best way to achieve this especially moving the eggs and hen. We do have rats around at the moment so need to find a simple solution to keep them safe if she succeeds in hatching. Would making a space indoors be less risky than outdoors? Chicken_Cottage
I wanted to update on this, I got a small coop that is indoors and having discovered 4 chick's last weekend followed by another hatch on Monday moving them to a separate coop was the best option. Mother and 5 chick's are all doing well, eating and drinking happily and cheeping away.
