pgainey
Just to let you know that Tango, my omlet supplied , finally laid her first egg. No idea why it took her so long but like you all said she would do it when she was ready! Thanks for your support.
little chickadee
Hurrah - glad to hear she's not "freeloading" anymore! Congratulations
Janty
Congratulations on the egg. Hens are funny creatures...my oldest cochin is showing no signs of laying, yet the youngest one is popping out an egg a day, bless her.

Olly
well I was SO excited this morning - not the first egg, not even the first egg from a new hen, but the first egg for some weeks from my 'green eglu' girls! I was really worried that they had given up laying for ever, but it turns out they were just having a winter break. I'm not sure who laid it - it's small, so it could be the speckledy but it looks more like a gingernut egg. They have been eating and appearing entirely healthy, but I'd noticed their combs were paler lately, and they've suddenly got much redder. I'm crossing my fingers now for a five-egg day!
