Carol U
Someone asked the other day how high a chicken gate needed to be. I've just found Myrtle happily sitting on the apex of the greenhouse - height 6'8"!! (and she is a big, heavy bird)! Think I need to get the kitchen scissors out! Ain't Nobody Here
That's a bit drastic surely . You could just clip her wing .

chelsea
thats high for a big girl! We bought a chicken once that flew on top of our caravan (even with clipped wings) Needless to say, it went straight back to the breeder within the hour! Pinkybijou
I was going to post the same thing today! I found our Dora sitting quite happily on the top of the children's plastic play house which I would guess is about 5' high. It is in the corner near to our fence, so one more hop skip or jump and she would have been over the fence and away (reminds me of the Nick Park Chicken Run film!). I had (obviously wrongly) assumed that the plastic roof would be to slippery, but she was very happy there! Hmm, maybe time to get DH to hold her while I set about her beautiful wings with my scissors too. Kris Doris, Welsummer Dora, Wyandotte both arrived three weeks ago tomorrow, and both happily freeloading too!
