TAJ
First egg arrived today, light brown, so given our girls (blackrock, bluebelle & light sussex) I guess it could be anyones. The Bluebelle & Blackrock are now 21 weeks and the light sussex is 25 weeks and was apparently laying just under 3 weeks ago when we got her - so she looks most likely, but I thought her were supposed to be cream to light brown? Anyway it weighed in at 49g - not huge, but a great surprise - the ritual of daily checking and nothing for almost three weeks had got to the point were each day we looked not expecting anything. Now it the question of what you do with the first egg. Tracy
bellekatz
Congratulations on your first egg - how are you going to eat it? I think boiled with soldiers or poached is good but I guess it depends how many it is being shared between

TAJ
I am now being optomistic - thinking we may have one each (3) by the weekend, so we will save the first egg until we have three (assuming it is not a one-off!). Daughter thinks she should be allowed to eat the first egg - though I have reminded her the hens were MY birthday present not hers, so technically all eggs are mine! chickencam
Congratulations Our light sussex's eggs are quite distinctive not just because of their light brown colour but also their shape very pointed at one end.
Snowy
Congratulations Our light sussex's eggs are quite distinctive not just because of their light brown colour but also their shape very pointed at one end. That is interesting, my araucana/sussex cross lays eggs that are very pointy!
