I'd wash it by hand if I were you and hang it on the line to drip.

 

I found they disintegrated if I used the power washer on them, so I imagine the pounding action and spinning of the washing machine might be too much for them too.

 

The sun causes them to get very weather beaten and fragile.

ooh, glad you asked that question Sasha, because I've been pondering this! The shade is the one thing that doesn't wear very well ... only a year and mine is more khaki than green, and very scruffy looking.

 

Still, for £12 you can get a new one. I think if I bought another one I'd put it UNDER one of the Ikea plastic shower curtains - it might still fade but it wouldn't get quite so grubby.

 

I might try a hand wash when the weather's warmer.

This is also what I have read in other posts I would hand wash to be safe
