Guest
It used to be that first class meant the next day and second class was usually 2 days, 3 at the most. I was looking up delivery prices because I want to put some bits and pieces on e-bay and the description under the link for 2nd class made me hoot! "For when time isn't important"!!! Says it all really
Tessa the Duchess
Too funny Poet. I always use 2nd class postage for everything except birthday cards. Postage charges are really horrific these days Tessa

Ah, that was back in the good old days when you got two postal deliveries a day! I usually use second, but keep a few 1st class stamps to hand (the sort without a price on, so they don't expire), just in case.
Jules.
Aren't postal prices going up again, soon?
ubereglu
Yes Jules they are. The new system for postal deliveries is so confusing and it was SUPPOSED to be easier and CHEAPER-but it certainly isn't.
Guest
...and it was SUPPOSED to be easier and CHEAPER-but it certainly isn't. they told us it would be easier and cheaper but it was a ploy to raise postal prices. Like when banks say they're closing branches and opening call centres in outer mongolia to make it easier for their customers! How stupid do they think we are?
