Are your new Omlet hens laying yet?

Recommended Posts

YAY!!!!! At last my little Tikka has laid her first egg I'm so proud of her, it's 49g perfectly formed and a dark brown colour, and it was in the nest :D

I thought she was going to lay today because just before I went to work she went into the Eglu on her own and she never does that.

Even better (if it could be better) it's also my first 2 egg day! :D:D

I'm so pleased that Madras who lays later in the morning didn't kick Tikka's egg out of the nest or eat it, so what a lucky girl I was coming home this evening and finding 2 perfect eggs in the nestbox!!!:D

annie (Miss P) and margaret (GN) arrived on 29th march, with anne being a lot bigger than Margaret. She still is, and has just delivered her sixth egg in 6 days. The eggs seem to be getting bigger by about half a millimetre per day - haven't got metric scales so haven't bothered weighing - but are much smaller than the last of the eggs I bought locally. Margaret's comb is still pale pink and although she is catching up sizewise, she just seems to act like a young skittish teenager to anne's matronly patrolling so I am guessing a few more weeks yet before she starts to lay.

Well done Tikka!!

Great to know that her narcolepsy or whatever it is hasn't stopped her from laying.

I'm surprised at how brown Annie's eggs are compared to Clarabel's. It's really handy as it means we can tell the eggs apart. Our egg stats are showing that Annie's eggs are generally a tad smaller than Clarabel's, but the yolks are really bright yellow.

Yes Tikkas eggs are much browner than Madras's I would take a pic but my phone is broken :(

Hooray! At last! It's been on my mind, and she's not even my chicken!

Dolce's eggs are a lot browner than Bella's. There are photos of them in the gallery under "redhotchick" if you want to compare the colour of them with Tikka and Madras' Eggs.

May you have lots of 2 egg days to come.

Well done Tikka, we all knew she'd get there in the end! She was obviously just waiting for Madras to show her how it's done! Good weight too for a first egg!
