Anyone use an automatic door opener?

Recommended Posts

I have a cube and my mum has just requested a brochure to add an automatic door opener to her wooden chicken house.

Has anyone ever added this to their Eglu or Cube door before.

I would like to know if it is possible, it would be great not having to get up between 6 and 7am every day!

I have an automated door opener on my Eglu, but it is homemade by DH.

It is complicated to describe but basically he made a clamp to grip the door opener which is attached to rope which is strung over the trees in the garden and leads into the bedroom window. You open the window, tug on the rope and voila the door opens :) I am trying to persuade him to invent a remote control for it so I don't even have to get out of bed  I am a very lazy chickenkeeper, but I do go out if the temp. is really low in case the glug is frozen

You could tie the string to your big toe.....then you wouldn't even have to get out of bed.
